OpenAI’s head of product shares 5 tips for using ChatGPT that you may not know.
Many people use ChatGPT to create recipes or write work emails.
In the latest episode of the podcastThe fork is hardNick Turley introduces five ways to use ChatGPT, from using voice mode to chat with this chatbot to creating your own personal GPT to help you become a creative writing, strategy development consultant marketing or turn photos into infographics.
Hard Fork is a popular podcast hosted by the newspaper.New York Timesfocuses on topics related to technology, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet culture and the impact of technology on everyday life.
While Nick Turley says these tips aren’t too complicated, they’re useful for users who haven’t fully explored the new features in the GPT-4o version of ChatGPT.
1. Sound mode
If you don’t like typing, you can try chatting using ChatGTP.
Nick Turley “This is a completely different way of using ChatGPT. It’s never been done before, it’s no different from anything else that’s been tried in technology.”
Some reviewers had “emotional and personal” conversations with ChatGPT.
All users logged into ChatGPT can access the standard voice feature.
2. Ask ChatGPT to remember
If you don’t want to repeat information, you can ask ChatGPT to remember a few things, helping this AI chatbot improve its response ability.
Nick Turley says: “You don’t have to wait for it to comment on you. You just tell chatgpt everything you want it to remember.”
Information to remember could be your job, family situation, hobbies, or even your favorite food.
Nick Turley thinks the extra effort will be worth it because remembering Chat GTP will “get better and better”.
3. Create a personal GPT model
Users can create their own custom GPT templates without needing to know programming.
“People do this for a number of reasons. If you have a script you use often, create your own GPT,” advises Nick Turley.
Depending on your instructions in GPT Builder, GPT can be customized to focus on specific tasks, such as learning a language or analyzing data.
DALL-E is an AI model developed by OpenAI that can generate images from text suggestions.
GPT Builder is a tool that allows users to easily create custom GPTs without programming knowledge.
Features for GPT developers
No programs are required
GPT Builder is designed for ease of use.
Customize GPT
Customize how GPT responds based on context or usage.
Add frequently used commands or queries.
Integrate additional features with DALL-E, such as advanced data visualization or analytics.
It supports many applications
You can use custom GPT for the purpose of processing and analyzing data from documents.
Share or keep private
The GPT you create can be kept private or shared publicly via a link.
How to create GPT using GPT Builder
If you’re using a version that supports this feature (usually for Plus or Enterprise users), look for GPT Builder in the ChatGPT interface.
Enter instructions
You will be asked to provide specific instructions on how GPT works, such as:
“Answer like a financial expert”.
“Focus on simple, easy-to-understand explanations for 5th grade students.”
Add advanced features (optional)
Enable advanced data analytics if you need to process files or complex data.
Activate DALL-E if you want to create images from text.
Customize the look and feel and share
Name your GPT.
Example using GPT Builder
Marketing assistant:GPT is programmed to suggest marketing strategies, write advertising content or analyze market trends.
Helps learn programming;Create special GPTs to explain algorithms or provide code hints.
A fictional character: GPT acts as a character in the game by reacting and interacting according to a predetermined personality.
GPT Builder opens up limitless creative possibilities by helping you use AI effectively and easily.
4. Upload the ChatGPT file.
This feature allows users to upload text files, documents, spreadsheets, and presentations, then save them to their ChatGTP account.
ChatGPT can analyze text, summarize, give feedback, extract information or compare between two documents.
“A lot of people don’t know that behavior exists and it’s very powerful,” Nick Turley said.
5. Combine images
“Most people like text, some people like images, and these two groups rarely meet,” observes Nick Turley.
ChatGPT needs a combination of these two content types because it can support both.
DALL-E is also available in ChatGPT and supports creating images from chat.
Nick Turley suggests that people can use both of these skills for different activities, such as creating birthday cards.
“You might want to use both to create a small custom photo with a nice greeting. Many people don’t realize or don’t use the full potential of this combination,” he says.
